Help
The following describes the default keyboard controls, however all controls are customisable to suit individual preferences, and there are 2 default configurations for using the mouse.
Head Up Display
The Head Up Display (HUD) provides information in a small transparent panel at the top left of the screen.
F - Frames per second
L - Level
A - Asteroids remaining
P - Points
S - Ship has Shields power-up
R - Ship has Rapid Fire power-up
V - Ship has Velocity Boost power-up
In the middle of the HUD is a triangular formation of 3 dots representing your ships. The ship currently being controlled has a horizontal bar, and the ship whose view is currently displayed on screen has a vertical bar. Ships that have been destroyed are removed from the formation.
Changing control and views
From your ship, you can control your own ship and the two un-manned space probes. The Head Up Display will show you which ship you have control of and which ship's view is displayed on screen. Views and control can be changed by using the following keys:
1 - changes control and view to first probe
2 - changes control and view to your ship
3 - changes control and view to second probe
F1 - changes control to first probe
F2 - changes control to your ship
F3 - changes control to second probe
Changing the orientation of the ship
The ship you are currently controlling can be rotated up, down, left and right in order to change its orientation.
Left cursor key - rotates ship to the left
Right cursor key - rotates ship to the right
Down cursor key - rotates front of ship up
Up cursor key - rotates front of ship down
Return key - stops and resets the ship's orientation
Moving the ship
The ship you are currently controlling can be moved forward, back, left, right, up and down.
A - moves the ship forward
Z - moves the ship back
Q - moves the ship sideways to the left
W - moves the ship sideways to the right
S - moves the ship up
X - moves the ship down
Return key - stops and resets the ship's orientation
Blasting asteroids
Since your weapons are powered by harnessing the energy within the energy containment field, you can only use your weapons when inside the containment field. Weapon sights will appear in the centre of the screen when you can fire.
Space bar - fire (when inside containment field)
Power-ups
When enemy ships are destroyed they may leave an item of technology floating in space that you can use to power up your ship. Just pilot your ship towards the floating power up in order to add it to your ship.
Power ups include:
- Weapon boosts for rapid fire
- Velocity boosts for faster speed
- Shields for protection against asteroids
Pausing and exiting
P - pause/proceeds with the game
Esc - exits from the game
